MSc in Arterial Hypertension and Related Cardiovascular-kidney diseases

INVITATION OF DECLARATION OF INTEREST

The School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens announces the Postgraduate Master Program: "Arterial Hypertension and Related Cardiovascular-kidney diseases".

With this announcement, those interested to attend the Postgraduate Master Program during the academic years 2022-2023 & 2023-2023 are invited to submit their application and the other necessary supporting documents. Courses will start in October 2022.

The Postgraduate Master’s Program leads to the award of the " Master's Degree " in Arterial Hypertension and Related Cardiovascular-kidney diseases, after the successful completion of the courses within a minimum duration of four (4) academic semesters.

The degrees are awarded by the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

1. Eligible students

Eligible students in the Postgraduate Master Program, provided they meet the necessary conditions, are graduates of the first cycle of studies of the Medical University departments of the country or similar foreign institutions, as well as graduates of the University Departments of Pharmacy, Nursing, Biology, Agricultural University, and Harokopio University with the following ratio:

1. Medical School Graduates (60%)

2. Graduates of the School of Pharmacy (5%)

3. Graduates of the Nursing University (20%)

4. Graduates of the Department of Biology (3%)

5. Graduates of the Agricultural University (2%)

6. Graduates of the Harokopio University (10%)

2. Students Selection Criteria

The selection of students is based on the following criteria:

-  Degree grade

- Detailed grades in undergraduate courses related to the subject of the Postgraduate Master’s Program (e.g., Biology, Physiology, Pathological Physiology, Pharmacology, Internal Pathology, Microbiology, Cardiology, Nutrition)

- Any Diploma thesis

- Any Postgraduate Studies

- Any research activity

- Any scientific work (research papers, publications, etc.)

- Any clinical or professional experience related to the subject of the Postgraduate Master’s Program 

- Any scholarships, honors, or awards 

- Certified knowledge of the English language and any other foreign languages

- Two letters of recommendation

- The personal interview and the information gathered about personality, professional plans, goals of the candidate, and the intention to prepare a doctoral thesis

- Any other information related to the candidate's qualifications as evidenced by the supporting documents submitted

The number of students in the Postgraduate Master Program is set at a maximum of thirty (30) Postgraduate Students per year.

3. Application

Candidates are invited to submit to the following e-mail mschyperandkidney[at]gmail[dot]com  their application for participation in the Postgraduate Master Program, which is available on the website of the Central Secretariat of the School of Medicine of the University of Athens: school.med.uoa.gr, as well as on the Postgraduate Master’s Program website: hypertasi.med.uoa.gr.

Supporting documents sent electronically together with the application form:

            I. Curriculum vitae, which will include personal information, undergraduate degree, postgraduate degree - if any, certified knowledge of foreign languages, publications in scientific journals and conference announcements - if any, any professional or research experience - if any, as well as the details of the persons responsible for the reference letters. The European Europass standard can be used.

II. Cover letter, in which it will be stated for what reasons the candidate is interested in participating in the Postgraduate Master Program.

Candidates are invited to apply by September 09, 2022.

Candidates will be informed by e-mail and telephone about the date of the personal interview.

Other documents to be available during the interview:

1. Photocopy of Degree, showing the original upon submission. 

2. Photocopy of certificate of analytical grades of undergraduate courses, with the presentation of the original upon submission.

3. Copy of Diploma-Graduate Thesis - if available.

4. Photocopy of Master's Degree or certificate of attendance if not completed, showing the original upon submission - if available.

5. Publications in peer-reviewed journals-if any.

6. Certification of the responsible Professor in case of a scientific project-research activity-if available.

7. Evidence of professional or research activity - if any.

8. Two letters of recommendation.

9. Certificate of knowledge of the English language or other foreign languages.

10. Photocopy of two sides of the ID.

11. Certification from the employer, if employed, that if selected they will have permission to fulfill their obligations.

12. Declaration of Law 1599/89 that the candidate can fully meet the requirements of compulsory schooling, according to this announcement, and undertakes the cost of his studies for all semesters.

13. Declaration of Law 1599/89 that all submitted photocopies are exact copies of the originals.

14. Any other element that, in the candidate's opinion, would help the Examining Committee to form a more complete and comprehensive opinion.

4. Obligations of Graduate Students

- To obtain the Master's Degree, attendance and successful fulfillment of the obligations in the theoretical courses, the practical training and the preparation of the master's thesis, are mandatory, as defined in the Study Regulation of the Postgraduate Master Program. 

- The studies at Postgraduate Master Program entail the payment of tuition fees. For the two years of studies, the total amount of tuition fees is set at €4,000.00 (four thousand euros) to be paid in four (4) equal dosages at the beginning of each academic semester.

- All the necessary forms and  information about the subject of the Postgraduate Master Program are provided on the website of the Central Secretariat of the School of Medicine of the University of Athens: school.med.uoa.gr, as well as on the website of the Postgraduate Master Program: hypertasi.med.uoa.gr.
